Highlights

One of the most popular members of the Australian team, Regan qualified for his second Olympic Games with a pair of first class swims at the 2004 Telstra Olympic Team Selection Trials in Sydney. He clocked a new personal best of 1:01.93 finishing second to Jim Piper in the 100 metre breaststroke and then backed up a few days later to win the silver in the 200m breaststroke, again behind Piper, in 2:13.47.

Regan returned to form in 2003 with a stunning victory in the 100 metres breaststroke at the Telstra Australian Championships in a personal best time of 1:02.08, sending him to Barcelona for the World Championships.

The Queenslander, who trains in Canberra, also took silver in the 200 metre breaststroke event.

In 2002 at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester he finished seventh in the final of the 200 metre breaststroke, before going on to the Pan Pacific Championships in Yokohama where he was a finalist in both the 100 and 200 metre breaststroke.

In 2001 Jim was a member of the World Championship winning 4x100 metre medley relay team and finalist in the individual 200 metre breaststroke in Fukuoka.

At the 2000 Olympics Regan finished an unlucky fourth in the 200 metre breaststroke, just 0.15 away from the bronze medal, but he picked up a silver medal as a member of the Australian medley relay team.
